At Baringhup Alpacas, we use our Huacaya Alpaca fleeces to weave scarves. Our alpacas are shorn annually and their fleece spun into yarn at a mini mill. The mill uses no chemicals, the fleece is not scoured, but washed in rainwater and spun onto cones or into skeins. We use the alpacas’ natural colours and hand weave on 8 shaft table looms. All scarves are hand washable.
Unfortunately, we have found that the softness of 100% alpaca is incompatible with men’s whiskers, so scarves need to be worn away from the face.
